Hello golfers--
Here are the results for Wednesday's tournament at Toiyabe. The format was 2-man teams, 1 best ball (net). Twenty-two golfers teed off in rainy conditions, which deteriorated rapidly. Only two teams finished 18 holes. After considering several options and checking with the assistant chairs, I decided to treat the tournament as a rain-out, not award any prizes, and refund everyone's $5 contribution. Also, Toiyabe will give all 22 players a credit toward their green fees in the next tournaments; they will just need to pay the cart fee.
For the record, Greg Bentley and Ken Cuneo finished first (net 63) and Al Giannotti and Skip Yokota finished second (net 67). The other teams did not finish. Closest-to-the-pin placards got soaked, but unofficially Dave Knighton (2" on hole #2), John Daniel Tierney (17' 9" on hole #6) and Augie Martinez (23' 8" on hole #8) did the best on those holes.
The following players completed enough holes (13 or more) to post a score: Andrade, Bentley, Cuneo, Giannotti, Logue, Puryear, Raybould, Yokota, and Ziegler. Those scores have been posted to the GHIN system.
Coming up. Next week (May 23) is an "away" tournament at Toiyabe. There is a sign-up sheet in the club room at Empire Ranch. The following week (May 30) is the final relocated "home" tournament at Toiyabe, starting at 8 a.m. Sign up at the Empire Ranch pro shop or by return email.
Thanks for playing!
